We're Moving

Neil and I are moving. Again. It's that time of year, I guess! Our lease is up on our apartment and we heard that there was a vacancy in a rental house that Neil's Aunt Dana and Uncle Jim owns. It's substantially cheaper than our apartment now and it's an actual house. Bonus! We should be moving right around August 30. The location is near Logan High. Now is the time to de-junk our house. We'll be living next to cousins Jamie and Sara and we have already planned some serious Rock Band parties. Should be fun- hopefully we'll stay there longer than a year. Any help moving would greatly appreciated, but we understand if you're busy. Anyway, we'll let you know our new address and official moving dates when we have them for sure.

My Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday. I am now 23! It was a fun birthday- nothing too spectacular happened, but it was great nonetheless. Neil took me to breakfast at Angie's in the morning. That place is always so good! Then, I had to go into work (blah), but my mom took me to Hamilton's for lunch, so it wasn't that bad. Except for the air conditioning at work was broken, so that was lame. Anyway, I got home from work and Neil had washed my car for me and cooked me dinner! I know, all of his siblings are saying "yeah, right, Neil cooking dinner?" But it's totally true. He made me chicken cordon bleu (I know, fancy) and mashed potatoes with salad. And then he also made this way good caramel brownie cheesecake for dessert. I had no idea I was married to a chef- now that I know, I think I'm going to ask for help in the kitchen more often. After dinner, we walked over to the movie theater and watched a movie. It was all in all, a great birthday. Thanks, Neil! You made it great!

My Diploma

Maybe this is lame to post, but I'm super excited anyway. My diploma came in the mail on Friday! I guess I secretly thought I didn't actually graduate and it was all a trick, and that I would have to go back to school in the fall. (Gasp!) Well, I'm happy to say that it wasn't a trick, and apparently I really did graduate. What a relief!

"The Dark Knight"

Last night we went and saw the new movie, "The Dark Knight", at midnight. I don't know if I will ever go see a midnight movie again- I am so tired today! It was totally worth it, though. This movie is way good, and the Joker is the best character for sure. We went with Dave, Carly, Tom, Tony, Alli, Sara, Jamie, and two guys I didn't know and I don't think I met. It was a blast. There was a texting war before the movie started, which was funny because I don't know if Neil's phone will text again- He had to clean out his inbox about 5 times. I would highly recommend this film to anyone who is into the Batman films, because this one was a million times better than Batman Begins. Lots of action and some really funny parts too. Neil even really enjoyed it, and he is a hard person to please when it comes to movies. Check it out!

Park City Soccer Tournament

Last weekend Neil and I went to Park City to play in an adult soccer tournament. We competed in the men's and women's leagues and had such a blast! Neil's team played some super hard teams and still beat a team 8-1. He scored a goal in that game and I think he even had some assists. My team got put into the hardest bracket I've ever seen, and we lost all of our games. :( The upside is that we had so much fun, it didn't really matter that we were losing! Neil and I have a saying that a day playing soccer (even if you're losing), is a better time than a day at work. It was such a blast and we came home exhausted and tired of the sun. We stayed at a sweet hotel/condo in The Canyons that I found online for $90 a night. We talked to the guy at the front desk and he said that there was no way that was how cheap the room was, but it really was! I now really like hotwire.com. Check it out! Here are some pics of the tournament- apparently all I do is stand with my hands on my hips because those are the only pictures Neil was able to get of me. I only took one picture of him, and that happened to be of him on the bench. I promise he actually played! Also, we took this picture of our referee talking on his cell phone during one of my games. I thought that was funny. Anyway, it was all in all, a great time in Park City playing the best game in the world!

Neil and I and all the Essig's just got back from Canada a couple of weeks ago. It was such a blast and we can't wait to go again! The wildlife was amazing, and it was so great spending time with all the family. We had a photo contest that Becky won (by a slim margin, I might add- she's the only one who got a picture of a toad, I think), and also the first Essig Olympics. I was a judge, and the blue team ("Blue Beyond Despair") won the gold! Neil and I spent most of our time fishing and relaxing. Oh, and beaver hunting. Neil caught a total of 20 fish and I caught 18. Don't worry, we threw all but one back! My mom had a great time too and she says that she misses Hollie. We cannot wait to go back- Canada is really like our second home. We love it!

Our First Blog

Neil and I now have a blog. I figure that this is a great way to keep in touch with our family and friends, so they can see what we're up to. Our lives are pretty generic, but hopefully it will be interesting enough that people keep checking it out!
